Our School Values: The 4R’s

As a Catholic school with a strong Christian ethos, we actively support and promote a value-based education. By living out our 4Rs – Relationships, Resilience, Responsibility and Respect, we encourage the whole school community to:

– Think about and reflect upon positive Christian, British and Universal values.

– Experience how living out these values impacts on themselves and others, in school, in the wider community and in the world.

– Instil a sense of belonging to the school, the local community, the country they live in and the wider global community.

– Inspire individuals to choose their own positive personal social, moral and spiritual values.

– Promote an inclusive school ethos and a learning climate that will raise aspirations and achievement.

– Raise self-esteem and encourage children to take more responsibility for their own behaviour and learning.

Values for the 4 R’s – what they mean to us…

Respect: to value others and appreciate everyone for their differences and similarities.

Resilience: to keep on trying, even when things are hard.

Responsibility: to know what is expected of me and make the right choices.

Relationships: to care for others and look after the world around me.

4 Rs Characters

Each of the 4R’s values has a bespoke cartoon character attached to them. The characters have been introduced to celebrate our uniqueness and are also another way to stimulate discussion and motivate the children to think about the 4R’s every day.

4 Rs Symbols

Throughout their time at St Elizabeth we encourage the children to strive to earn all 4 of the 4R’s badges. The children need to demonstrate on at least 10 occasions that they have lived out one of the 4R’s values. They will then be rewarded a 4R’s badge in a special assembly. The children take great pride in earning their badges and are seen as role models for others.
