St Elizabeth Catholic School

THE HEADTEACHER’S WELCOME

I am delighted to welcome you to our school website.

We are a two form entry primary school for ages 3 -11, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, with extended provision from 7.45am to 6.00pm each day. Ofsted has said we are a ‘Good’ school.

At St Elizabeth, every child is encouraged to discover and nurture his and her special gifts and talents through a stimulating curriculum that has global dimensions, going beyond the basic national curriculum requirements.

Our school motto “We are striving for excellence in a caring Catholic community” reflects our high aspirations and ambitions for children and there is a driving determination to ensure that all pupils and adults in the school reach their full potential. We are never complacent and are continually looking for ways in which we can improve the school further.

ANGELINA JOHN

Headteacher

I am very proud of our academic achievements, facilities and creative curriculum, but most importantly, I am incredibly proud of our children with their positive attitudes towards learning, the way they take responsibility for their own learning and strive to do even better.

“Pupils are keen and show an enthusiasm for learning. Pupils have positive attitudes to their work and take pride in what they do. For example, work in pupils’ books shows they take great care with presentation and handwriting. The bright and colourful displays of pupils’ work around the school exemplify the care and attention that pupils show for their learning.” - Ofsted February 2017

St Elizabeth is a happy and inclusive school of which our children are proud. We want them to have special and happy memories of their time at St Elizabeth.

“Pupils spoken to were very positive about the school and said they were all encouraged to respect each other and always do their best. They are familiar with the school’s mission statement and are given opportunities to show leadership through a range of responsible roles. Relationships throughout the school are very good and behaviour is excellent.” - Diocesan Inspection 2015

Achievement and enjoyment are important goals that we are determined to provide for all of our pupils in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We pride ourselves in providing a secure, yet stimulating, and challenging learning environment. We want our pupils to develop their strengths whilst having the confidence to address targets and areas identified for improvement.

We welcome participation by parents and carers in all aspects of school life, and we look forward to working in partnership with you. No-one knows your child better than you and for this reason we very much value your co-operation to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child. If you would like paper copies of any of our policies, these are free of charge. Please contact the school office for such requests.

I hope this website gives you a flavour of our exciting and vibrant schools.
