RE Curriculum Intent

At St Elizabeth, our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is designed to nurture our pupils’ understanding of the Catholic faith, deepen their relationship with God, and encourage them to live out Gospel values in their daily lives. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, our curriculum provides pupils with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to develop spiritually, morally, and socially, helping them grow as compassionate and responsible individuals.

Our Aims

Through our RE curriculum, we aim to:

  • Foster a love of God and an understanding of His teachings.
  • Provide a strong foundation in Scripture, Catholic traditions, and Church teachings.
  • Encourage pupils to reflect on their own beliefs and how faith shapes their lives.
  • Promote respect and understanding of different faiths and worldviews.
  • Inspire pupils to serve others and make a positive difference in the world.

Curriculum Enrichment

To bring learning to life, we provide a wide range of enriching experiences, including:

  • Liturgical Celebrations – Pupils take part in school Masses, assemblies, and Celebrations of the Word, deepening their spiritual life.
  • Religious Days – Opportunities for pupils to step away from daily routines to pray, reflect, and grow in faith e.g. St Elizabeth Day and the Feast of St Peter and St Paul.
  • Visits and Trips – Including visits to churches, art galleries, and places of religious significance in other faiths.
  • Community and Charity Work – Encouraging pupils to put their faith into action through fundraising and social outreach.
  • Parish Community – Learning from our Parish Priests at St John the Baptist Church and the Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
  • Interfaith Learning – Exploring other faith traditions to promote understanding and respect for different beliefs.
